Nursing Care
The Nursing Team is an integral part of our interdisciplinary team and is greatly valued for their contributions.
Canuck Place employs a highly trained and dedicated nursing team specializing in pediatric palliative care. Working closely with other professional disciplines, the Nursing Team strives to meet the physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual needs of children and families.
Nursing care is provided by Registered Nurses (RNs), Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), and Personal Care Assistants (PCAs) who have gained expertise and experience in the field of pediatric palliative care. Delivery of care is around the clock, 365 days per year.
A Nursing Co-coordinator oversees the day to day co-ordination and delivery of care, ensuring safe, quality care. Their clinical practice is supported by a clinical nurse specialist who is responsible for nursing education, the development of clinical standards and the integration of current nursing research and practice.
An Intake Co-coordinator reviews and processes referrals to Canuck Place and provides information to assist in this process and to enhance understanding of the program.
The Nursing Team works with families to assist and teach them how to care for and manage changing and complex symptoms that are impacting their child. They also work closely with community partners and agencies to arrange for assistance and supports to further continuity of care.
We do have opportunities available for both RNs and LPNs to join our team -- see our Career Opportunities
